Breaking News: People who may have been exposed to the coronavirus but are asymptomatic can end their quarantine after 7 days, instead of 14, if they test negative, the CDC said. Officials still support a 14-day quarantine as the safest option.

Instead of 14

The bad part, the sad thing -

- is that after seeing how many times the C.D.C. changed their recommendations or held back on information or spun their message -

BECAUSE - they were TOLD by the current administration to do so

- it is hard to trust their information now.

oh bullsh*t. The cdc has changed their story because they could, not because of what anyone said. Typical government dysfunctional institution.

“A shortened quarantine period may be more palatable to people, with reduced economic impact, and may improve compliance, officials said.”

‘Nuff said. The above quote says it all. It’s all about the money. Always about the money.

well, increased compliance is also key. Even very compliant folks are getting lockdown fatigue, so if it makes it easier to convince a covidiot to quarantine for a week instead of two, it might help.

I wanna know if a rapid test on day 4 of quarantine is acceptable to "test out" of the 14 days after returning from another state.

we tested negative within 3 days before arriving home in NY.

but I want to "test out" on day four so I can actually go grocery shopping 😖 we have no food in the house

Can’t you order groceries and do in-store pick up?

Good - this is based on science, and should increase compliance with quarantine. Many people don't do it at all.

but science said two weeks not one

I understand this concept is intended to improve compliance and be more "palatable" to people, but I think it's extremely ambitious to assume people will be getting test results back quickly in the coming weeks. I took a test at the NYSDOH drive thru testing site on 11/24 and I'm still waiting for my results. Without improvements to the testing program, results will continue to be late, rendering them not actionable (no time for meaningful contact tracing), and therefore useless.

yes. Our testing infrastructure is so far behind that any article that encourages testing without symptoms makes me laugh because it’s almost impossible

Officials say “may be more palatable to people... reduced economic impact...” well, there ya go. $ over health.

archaeological I understand your position but thousands of people have lost their business because they keep Changing the rules. There are people who have their entire life savings int a business and have lost everything because they keep changing the rules.I can’t even image what I would do if that happened to

Me. Peace be with you 🙏🏻

IDPH isn't changing their guidelines and Illinois residents are expected to do 14 day quarantine. It's asinine for this metric to change when cases are exploding and there is data supporting people not experiencing symptoms until days 12-14.

tests are usually accurate between days 5-7 after exposure. If you test negative, you can stop at 7 days. If you test positive, you may still develop symptoms and should stay home either way

At this point, the CDC has lost all credibility. Hopefully Biden will clean house and put it back together with professionals who would not be influenced by corrupt politicians.

But.....what if they are asymptomatic until day 9, and saw a bunch of people day 8 🙄 Don’t most people show symptoms within 2 weeks, not 1 ?

actually most people show signs in the first week, something like 97 percent.

Here in Germany people are required to fulfill their quarantine ... regardless of their test result after days 5-7. That way we make sure those with late symptoms are not spreading.

that’s how we in the US have been until this CDC update. 🤷‍♀️
